If you’ve been following along on my blog, you know that Nick and I purchased our first home just over one month ago! I pinch myself every day to ensure I’m not dreaming and that this milestone did in fact happen in our lives. As odd as it sounds, there’s something calming and comforting about being a homeowner, even amidst the stress of home projects and unforeseen problems. Goodbye are the days of writing rent checks and worrying about nailing holes in the walls or our pup damaging something in our temporary space. Now these walls and floors are truly ours to decorate and destroy as we please (just kidding on the destroy part! ha)

Buying a Fixer Upper

Home renovations are not for everyone.  I personally, love hunting down tile, selecting vanity pulls, and deciding between brushed nickel and oiled rubbed bronze faucet finishes.  This would be some people’s nightmare.  I am also ok with having my life temporarily disrupted for over a month when having a bathroom gutted.  Are you?

Think about this when searching for a home.  You might be better off buying a home that is newer or that has already had updates made to it.  You will pay more, but that might be the right choice for you.

Not sure how we managed this one, but this morning we signed off on the completion of our renovation loan! There are a million little things to get done and everyone that has ever built a home says not to move in before everything is perfect…but those people arent in their third trimester and living in an RV. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And as you can see by the latest blog posts, we kinda jumped the gun there. Oh well!
